Date Calculator

Count working days or days between two dates, or add and subtract days from a date.

Counting working days

Choose Working days, enter the start and end dates, and pick which days are your weekend. The start date is always counted, and you can decide whether the end date is.

Example. 1–31 October 2026 spans 31 calendar days. On a Saturday and Sunday weekend, 9 of them are skipped and 22 are working days. With a Friday and Saturday weekend, the same month has 21.

Before you rely on the number

  • Holidays are not removed. If two public holidays fall on weekdays inside the range, subtract 2 from the result.
  • Inclusive vs. exclusive. A Monday-to-Friday span counts as 5 working days with the end date included and 4 without it. For a deadline measured in "business days from now", exclude the end date or start from the day after today.
  • Weekends differ. Some regions and employers use Friday and Saturday, or a single rest day. Set the weekend to match the people the deadline applies to.

Days between vs. working days

Days between counts every calendar day, including weekends, and is the right choice for ages, notice periods and countdowns. Working days is the right choice for delivery estimates, payment terms and project plans.

How this is calculated

Working days: walks each calendar day from the start date (and the end date, if included) and skips the days you mark as the weekend. Holidays are not removed.

Days between: difference of UTC midnight timestamps, rounded to whole days. Doesn't account for daylight-saving transitions.

Add/subtract: uses the start date's UTC midnight, then increments by the specified day count.

Frequently asked questions

Does the working days calculator count the start and end date?

The start date is always counted. The end date is counted by default, which matches how spreadsheet functions such as NETWORKDAYS work, and you can switch it off to stop the day before.

Can it exclude public holidays?

No, holidays differ by country and year, so they are not removed. Subtract any holidays that fall on a working day inside your range from the result.

How many working days are in a year?

On a Monday to Friday week a year has 260 or 261 weekdays before holidays. 2027 has 261 and 2028 has 260; the calculator gives the exact count for any range.
